True Grit Cabernet Sauvignon – the most iconic of full-bodied red wines, a saturated cherry mouth is richly textured with signature elements of tobacco and earth

Winemaker: Parducci Wine Cellars
Size: 750 ml
Alcohol: 13.5%

Winemaker's Notes

The 2017 True Grit Cabernet Sauvignon is notably juicy! It opens up with flavors of currant and dark cherry followed by subtle olive tapenade. Its structure is supported by a solid yet round tannin profile and a lingering vanilla bean finish

John's Notes

Interestingly, I opened a True Grit Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2012 vintage just last weekend, and paired it with roasted pork loin, well-seasoned potato fingerlings, sauteed broccoli, brussels sprouts, and olive oil bread. Very tasty on its own, even better with food

In addition, I can’t help but be drawn to producers like Parducci who, on top of making excellent wine, work extremely hard to care for the environment by producing organically grown grapes and utilizing sustainable practices both in the vineyard and the winery. Much respect

Nerdy Details

Winemaker: Parducci Wine Cellars

  • Parducci Winery started as the dream of a stowaway 16 year old, traveling from Italy to San Francisco in 1912
  • The Mendocino winery was hand-built without electricity by a father and four sons. The vineyards were first tilled before the tractor was invented. The first bottles were filled with hoses and corks pounded in with mallets

Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon (96%), Petite Verdot (1.5%), Cabernet Franc (1.5%), Petite Sirah (1%)

Region: Mendocino County, California

  • Mendocino County is north of Sonoma and Napa counties, however its climate is generally much warmer and drier since it is shielded from the Pacific breezes and fog by coastal hills that reach 900 meters in height. Cool evenings extend the growing season, helping the grapes retain balanced acidity and good structure

  • Our winery is located 100 miles north of San Francisco CA., in Mendocino’s Ukiah Valley near the Russian river
  • Our winery is a member of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) and all of the Paul Dolan Vineyards wines are certified organically grown by CCOF
  • As organic farmers, we do not use herbicides such as glyphosate or other synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers
  • Cooperage: Aged in American and French oak
  • Vegan

Alcohol: 13.5%

pH:  3.58

Pairs Well With: T-bone steaks, spice-rubbed ribs, sharp cheddar cheese

Wilfred Wong (90): The 2017 Parducci True Grit Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon brings enticing textures and depth of fruit on the palate. This wine shows up nicely with bright fruit that lasts nicely on the palate. Pair it with roast duck. April 17, 2020

Wine Enthusiast (89): This full-bodied wine aged in French and American barrels is appropriately tight, firm and moderately tannic, showing mild raspberry and cherry flavors in the middle.  Jim Gordon, 8/1/20
