The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is an elegant and fresh style wine, with generous tropical fruit flavors with hints of citrus and fresh herbs. The palate is filled with pure fruit flavors, nicely balanced with a lingering crisp mineral finish. Enjoy with both fresh and cooked seafood dishes such as oysters, prawns and fish

John's Notes

I’ve had more than a few bottles from Yealands Wine Group, and have been deliciously pleased each time. Owned by Yealands, The Crossings wines are sourced from its wild riverside vineyards in the Awatere Valley and possess a distinctive and vibrant flavor profile. I also appreciate the cultivation of each vineyard “around the natural features of the land, from terraces and natural vegetation to original seed plantings” as part of Yealands’ commitment to sustainable winegrowing

On a separate note, check out WineJug’s selection of bubbly for Valentines Day. We have bunches of sparkling including Champagne, California Sparkling Wine, Blanc de Noir, Cava, Cremant de Loire, Prosecco, and more

Winemaker: The Crossings, Yealands Wine Group

  • Our absolute commitment to leading the world in sustainable wine production guides our company-wide thinking
  • We were incredibly lucky to be granted permission to create these wines during the global pandemic crisis. For this reason, our 2020 wines carry some very unique memories

Variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Region: Awatere Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand

  • The 2020 growing season was very dry, which meant disease pressure was low and some timely light rains kept just enough water flowing in our rivers. We had a classic Marlborough autumn with warm days and cool nights, which created this season’s Sauvignon Blanc with our signature fresh natural acidity and intense fruit flavors. We had fairly stable weather during Sauvignon Blanc flowering, with a small amount of rain affecting some of the later flowering areas, resulting in lighter crops and intense flavors

  • Our grapes are sustainably grown in three estate vineyards beneath the towering peak of Mt. Tappy next to “the crossing” where settlers traversed the fast-flowing Awatere River
  • The grapes were harvested in ideal condition, picking the terraced blocks at the point of optimum flavor development
  • Harvest dates: 25th – 29th March 2020

  • Parcels of grapes from our Willowflat and Brackenfield Vineyards (Awatere Valley) were picked and fermented separately, allowing us to enhance varietal character using carefully selected yeast strains
  • A long, cool fermentation took place, followed by blending, stabilization and filtering prior to bottling
  • Vegan Friendly

A true representation of our vineyards. The nose is dominated by citrus, fresh herb, and stone fruit, with the palate combining guava, passionfruit, and lemon zest.  A balanced wine with a fresh and vibrant finish – Winemaker
